FOUR STEPS TO BOOST YOUR ENGLISH LEARNING PROCESS

FOUR STEPS TO BOOST YOUR ENGLISH LEARNING PROCESS
WHEN PEOPLE FEELS ‘BLOOD-DRAINED’& FED UP
by Helmy Vramerryan

RECALL your memory when you first learn English language, perhaps you have to recall it from 10, 15, or 20 years ago. Remember how you deal with your English lessons in the class, numbers of your English homework, and of course your English teacher. Now look at you today. How do you make of using those English stuffs in your life and work today?
English language, unlike other subjects taught in the class when you were in the schools, were unrealized has an ‘economical value’. To my opinion people mostly doesn’t realize this ‘economical value’ until they think they can’t afford to work out on something without it. Since my second grade of my junior high school I have learned English without realizing how I would use this skill in the future. Nevertheless I have been making use of this skill since I was in the first year of my college time by teaching people. Yet I haven’t put this earning experience as my professional activity until then.

Many English schools are open and many English teachers teach English nowadays. Many people attend and join many English programs offered by those English schools and study English for months and even years. Instead of having a good command in mastering the language, most of the people who take the courses fail to grab their fluency in the language. Why?

4 STEPS 2 BOOST
Rejuvenate your spirit of learning. We obviously understand the word ‘rejuvenate’ means to refresh, to make body and mind feel fresh. When adults start their learning process without strong motivation they will feel awkward, lazy, bored, underestimate, less confidence, or ashamed of themselves.

It is so obvious if you don’t have someone or something make you have to study then you won’t. Now I tell you what, you don’t need to have someone or something to make you study. Encourage yourself to start to learn again or to brush up your English language because you need to prepare for something bigger in the next coming time. You need to prepare yourself to absorb more knowledge which come from outside and learn it by reading all the English printed materials related with it. Or you will prepare to communicate with global people within your business environment or you want just to simply ‘updated’ yourself thru global information.
Rejuvenating the spirit of learning means renewing your motivation and encouragement. Why I should try to brush up my English because it is somehow important in the near future to my professional performance, useful to my daily activity, and meaningful to people I assist using my language capability. Forget motivating your study goal by the need to increase your TOEFL score, to apply for a job, or to get promotion. My own spirit and motivation in sharpening my English is in order to prepare myself to be a Canadian, believe it or not, it means motivate you in learning English by thinking far beyond mere objectives. Go grab the sky. Take a motivation for granted no more.

Geared up to incoming challenge. After collecting your spirit, now you have to turn yourself into gearing up. Equip with a broaden knowledge of how to use the language properly. It is not only required to acknowledge the language tools but you need to understand when and where to use them. Hence you need to also understand the culture, the customs, and the habits of people of language you learn.

Similar to when you drive a car, shifting the gears up means you drive faster and smoother. We need to gear up our English vocabulary and expressions by exercising and practicing them into our daily life. Taking a 5 or 10-minute every day will make you powerful and positive. When you are positive with your English skills then you can easily absorb world wide information and apply it on your job. For executives, managers, directors having good command in English language will of course be helpful in improving job’s quality and performance.
Sustain what you have obtained. Remembering and memorizing the words usually makes people forget easily. Our brain has a limited capacity to remember things such as words or names. Adult people have to put some more effort to remember and memorize due to their life burden. Learning English doesn’t require you to remember everything. There are some ways to enhance your language vocabulary e.g. put the words you try to memorize into a sentence or an expression then practice it as often as possible whenever and wherever you are, or tyr to raed tihs knid of witrng. It wlil iprmove yuor raeindg seepd and pay mroe anttentoin to wrdos.
CHANGE your learning attitude now! The last step is you have to create your own way to learn the language. The language can be studied thru classes but as a busy people I think you can manage your time and place to learn it in more flexible and comfortable way. Take your family, your children and your spouse to get involve to your learning process such as when you have breakfast, watch TV, or make a dilly-dally. You also can involve your work mate, colleague, or boss to assist your English. The point is trying to make an ambiance of English spirit into your life atmosphere.

Learning English can be done not only by sitting in the classroom and listening to your teacher passively. Learning it can also be done while you are in a vehicle, in front of your PC, in a queue, in a meeting, in a lunch, or even in a toilet!. Making use of your sophisticated gadgets will also bring more benefits. Downloading Encarta multimedia encyclopedia at your PC or laptop for instance, or downloading dictionary and useful expressions to your mobile phones is just a great way to engrave your language skills.**
